Baseball Spring 2011 Competitive Team Tryouts – 10U thru 14U
For all tryouts please arrive 30 minutes early for sign-in and to warm-up.
All prospects should dress in baseball attire (wear a protective cup) and bring your glove, bat and water bottle. Tryouts will commence on time as indicated below. You should start throwing the baseball now. Don’t wait until next week to start throwing the baseball. Your arm will be tested at various ranges during the tryouts. You don’t want to jeopardize an injury for failure to prepare now and cost your chance at a spot on the team.
All team rosters are open. If you played on a NOAH competitive team last year, you must tryout again this year.
The tryouts will last approximately 2 hours. Depending on the number of prospects, it could be longer.
Tryout Location: NOAH Practice Fields located at 83rd and S. 129th East Ave. (between 81st and 91st) at the New Creations Church. There are no restroom facilities at the practice fields. The nearest facility is at the QuikTrip at the corner of 81st and Garnett. Please take care of business prior to tryout.
Roster: Each team will be limited to 10 or 11 players. Please note that if we have enough players to form odd age teams like an 11 yr old and/or 13 yr old team, we will form teams accordingly. For the evaluation purposes, we are combining ages. Players must be homeschool unless grandfathered into the program.
Fees: Expect to pay anywhere from $200-300 plus $100-120 uniform cost.
2011 League: The last two years, all competitive teams have played at Indian Springs (131st and 145th east aver.). Each year, we evaluate which league is the best fit for our teams. There are 14-16 regular season games plus 4-5 weekend tournaments. Please note, there will be occasional tournament games played on Sunday at varying times during the day. Please consider this circumstance when you make your decision to try out for a competitive team.
Tryout Dates:
13U/14U Team - Oct. 9th - 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.
Ages 13 or 14 and under as of 4/30/2011

FAQs
What level of play will NOAH teams compete? Historically, due to the number of players and our culture, NOAH has competed at the AA level. We are a homeschool program and our focus is to develop our “homeschool” talent with the intention of competing against like-skilled talent or better in hope of making us better players in preparation for the high school team. Ultimately, our goal is compete for league, state and national championships through youth to high school levels. If you play competitive baseball, expect to play 14-16 league games plus 16-20 tournament games throughout the season. The season starts in April and ends the last part of June. Indoor workouts start in February. Competitive team players are expected to make time and financial commitments to the team.
Will there be another tryout date if I can’t make this date? Maybe but not guaranteed, we are looking to field a competitive team. Therefore, if after the evaluations there are not 10-11 players with above average skill, we could have another tryout date in November or December. Of course the weather could play a part on our tryout date.
What if my son is not selected for the competitive team? Depending on his skill level, he could be placed on an “alternate” list in case there’s a spot that becomes available before the season starts. NOAH encourages all players to keep working on their skills and to play on the developmental team or tryout out for another competitive team. Life is full of failures and successes, just because they don’t make the NOAH team, inspire them to continue honing their skills. Historically, there has been developmental teams available for 12 and younger players. Developmental team signups will be January 2011. The last two years we had enough interest to form a 14U developmental team. Our first priority is field a competitive team. If there’s enough interest we will do whatever possible to have developmental teams. We have a good working relationship with Indian Springs, so we expect to place the developmental teams there. Developmental teams generally play around 20 games. The player fees are less due to fewer tournaments.
Who will coach the teams? I am in the process of evaluating and selecting a head coach for each team. I desire to have a head coach in place before the tryouts but due to the tryout process and number of teams involved, that determination may not take place until the tryouts or thereafter. The evaluators for the tryouts will be coaching candidates as well as members of the high school coaching staff. We are blessed to have dads with several years of coaching experience.

Pre Game Meals for the High School Team
PreGame Meal Instructions:
Please put all your food/drink items in a cooler (put your name on cooler) and bring to the drop off place (the place where Coach Joe designates that the team will be leaving from). We will then transport the ice chests to the game site and return your cooler to your son after the game.
Sandwiches (20 per family) - Please bring sandwiches fully made in labeled sandwich bags. Some players do not like condiments, so you may consider leaving a few plain. It is imperative that the sandwich bags be labeled for those players who may have food allergies.
Fruit (20 Pcs. per family) - Some fruit ideas are: bananas, grapes, apples, oranges. I realize it is difficult to buy a bag of apples/oranges that has 20 in the bag, so just cut them in half. A cluster of grapes in a sandwich bag works great.
Water (1/case per family)
I will be send email notices through my email address. So if you have a blocker on receiving emails, please add me to your contact list. I also ask that you simply reply to my email acknowledging that you did receive the notice. It is very difficult for me to have to call you to verify, so please make every effort to simply hit the ‘reply’ button to let me know. DO NOT reply to any of the coaching staff or administrative staff (ie. Danae Fayard).
Please add my email address to your contacts list, and if you have any concerns or questions, just let me know. THANK YOU for all your help and support.

We would like to invite all NOAH fans to our home game on Friday night with kick off at 7:30pm. Game location is at South Intermediate High School which is at 301 W New Orleans St. Broken Arrow, OK 74011. This is near intersection of 101st (New Orleans) and 161st (Elm St) on the Southeast corner.
Our opponent is the De Soto Eagles from De Soto Texas. The eagles were ranked top 50 nationwide in the preseason and are now ranked in the top 100. I will not give the card to anyone but the parents. I am the one who is always taking the pictures at the games.
The cards are valid from 9/2010 to 9/2011 so you need to get these from me on Friday night and get them distributed
to the individuals who ordered them so they have them in their possession in the month of September.

Message from the NOAH Basketball Program
For those students who play football or another fall sport, it is expected that sport will remain your primary extra-curricular commitment until the end of the season. You are not expected to attend basketball practices until the completion of your fall sport. You do still need to register on-line so we have a count of incoming players. I would also encourage those not playing football to attend the NOAH football games and support your teammates. We play this Friday night at 7:30 against Stilwell at Broken Arrow North Intermediate High School.
Go Jags,
Chris Moody

Matthew Long Nominated for PLAYER OF THE WEEK by Tulsa World
Senior Linebacker, Matthew Long, is one of 8 Oklahoma football players selected as finalists for this week's player of the week.
The editors ask fans to help them select the Player of the week by casting votes at Tulsa World Sports Extra Polls.
A decision will be made Tuesday night.
Matthew is just one of several outstanding NOAH athletes who have been recognized recently by media outlets for excellence in their arenas.
Polls such as these also help the Tulsa World gauge readership. A high vote count may result in greater coverage of NOAH sports, and hence, more opportunities for all NOAH athletes.
You may "vote early and often"

Junior High and High School Families
Dear NOAH Football Families,
We have started off our season with a bang in Springfield and as we enjoy cheering on our jag teams we wanted to remind our jag fans of a few things. We had a few issues brought to our attention at the Springfield game that we need to address. We are asking our parents to help us with the task of keeping every one off of the football field. If you are not a part of the team or a support person for the team that is scheduled to play on the field then you should not be on the field at any time unless you are invited for a half time participation etc.
During the Springfield game I witnessed a game referee ask one of our coaches to have a group of teenagers move away from the field and then the referee himself asked another group of teenagers to move away from the football field. Please speak with your children so that they understand that they should not play near the field. Our referees, coaches and team support staff should not have to concern themselves with these type of issues. This should be our responsibility as parents to make that our children understand what is allowed and what is not.
Please do not let your children climb on any structures at the fields. At the Springfield game it was brought to my attention that children were climbing up the back of the bleachers. This is a huge safety issue and we don’t want to have a child injured when it could be so easily prevented. As we represent first Jesus Christ, second the NOAH organization and third our individual families we want to respect other organizations property and authority.
We have moved our junior high and junior varsity games to a new location this year. I hope you were able to read the announcement on the football blog. One of the drawbacks of the new field is the lack of space between the field and the fence that encloses the field area. There is only about a thirty foot area for our team to stand and for our spectators to access the bleachers. It will be imperative to help us keep our fans away from the football field so that we won’t have any accidents. There are several areas outside of the fenced football field that the children can throw a football and play.
Thank You,
Danae Fayard and the NOAH football leadership

Junior High
Dear Junior High Parents,
Uniform Care Instructions:
Last night the junior high players were given white game jerseys. The white and blue game jerseys should be washed in cold water and hung to air dry. DO NOT USE BLEACH OR PUT THEM IN AN AUTOMATIC CLOTHES DRYER. Sometimes on the white jersey there are black marks that remain after washing. This is from the facemask and pads leaving marks when they tackle each other. This usually can be removed by scraping your fingernail across the fabric. (The truth is they like to have the marks as a badge of honor lol Boys!)
Practice pants are also cold water wash with no bleach and air dry. Please remove pads from the pants before washing. The pads can be hand washed and then can be left to air dry. They can also be wiped down with clorox wipes.
The girdles will also last much longer if they are not dried in an automatic clothes dryer.
Some of the jerseys may be long for the junior high players. If the white game jerseys are too long and can't be tucked in. The jersey can be hemmed. The final hem needs to sit about mid thigh in order to stay tucked in. The jerseys will hopefully be used in the future so it would be great if you can make it work without cutting the jerseys. Do not let your sons cut the jerseys themselves. If you have any questions please feel free to ask Kathy Gogo or myself.
Thanks so much,
Danae Fayard
